Don't Forget

Summer's almost over, and I just wanted to sqeeze in a post on how to get the most use out of a pair of denim shorts. Now that the dog day's of summer are over, you don't just have to throw on that pair of shorts with a tank and flip-flops and hope not to pass out from the heat anymore. Now you can make an edgy fashion statement and use that pair of cut-offs as a vital accessory.
^^ $16.90 at Forever21 ^^ $3.50 at Sears.. or free if you cut off an old pair of jeans yourself.^^ While its still warm enough out but not sweltering, wear the shorts like you normally would, but with something loud and fun like leggings of a bright color or loud pattern. Its easy to try a flirty/fun/playful look with denim shorts because the nuetrality of the denim allows the bolder accessory to stand on its own without looking like too much going on at once.^^ As the weather cools down a bit, try pairing the shorts with a pair of opaque leggings and stilletto boots for the perfect contrast between casual and classy.^^ A really casual almost 'grunge' look is accieved by pairing the shorts with one of those plaid shirts I've posted about in the past along with flat boots or Converses and runny stockings.^^ A slightly sexier take on the grunge/punk look would be to switch out the plaid and band t-shirt for a leather jacket (see my post on jackets) and something shimmery or sequined. The shear stockings (see my post on tights) add a classier element.^^ In order to make a pair of denim shorts a lot more sophisticated and rule out the 'trashy' element of them all together, try pairing them with a blazer. The first look is for a cooler day. Pair the shorts with darker colors, opaque stockings and a sleak pair of stilletto boots. The second photo shows how to lighten up the look for a day when its warm enough to show some skin, but windy enough to keep your shoulders covered. For this look, try lighter colors and switch out the tights and boots for strappy sandals or espidrills.

Very cute. I love these looks, especially the first one. I might try it out. ^_^
I'm not a fan of denim, so not a fan of denim shorts :/ But black ones can be ok.
I love denim shorts :)
i like :)
personally I love short a lot, no matter summer or winter, any seasons, it just make me feel so comfortable.
I cut up a pair of my American eagle jeans a while back & they actually turned out to look great :)
I really like wearing denim shorts with tights underneath and a band t-shirt. It's comfy and stylish :)
If any of you ladies live near a Kohl's, hit up clearance racks. We got shorts for less than $10 or even less than $5. I may go get me a pair.
Anyway, I may try to wear this one day. It looks interesting!
that's why I love blazers :)
Lol.. I was dressed like this on Monday. I love this look! I think I'm gonna cut up a pair of dark jeans I have cause the knee area is starting to fade so it's time for a new pair anyways :]
i'm so loving this idea!!! denim shorts with leggings underneath.. :)) thats hot

lawls @ fob fashion becoming american.. XD a lot of fobby girls wear shorts (not necessarily jean shorts tho) with black leggings and cute flats (and of course a typical fob spin like a ruffled loose shirt or something).
but yeah, damn, i wish it was cold enough to wear a jacket here. it's 97 degrees at the moment (southern california).
