  • The Scarf

Winter, summer, spring, or fall, the light weight fashion scarf jazzes up any outfit when you don't feel like thinking too much about what to wear. Just throw one on and your look is improved %100. The new and improved way to wrap a scarf is to fold it in half lengthwise, place it over your shoulders holding the folded side in one hand and the loose side in the other, then pull the loose ends through the loop. Adjust it to your desired look. I just bought the scaves like the one above in different patterns and colors at WetSeal for only $3.00 each.

^ Above is a very simple outfit; skinny jeans and a hoodie. Im sure you've sported that look before on a lazy day. Easiest way to make it look like you'd actually put some more thought into your look? just add a scaf with a pattern and color that compliments the rest of the outfit.

scarf4.jpg picture by dethofseasonsscarf.jpg picture by dethofseasons

^^ For colder days, the light weight scarf is actually quite useful for keeping the neck and shoulders warm and looks awesom with a jacket.

    scarf8.jpg picture by dethofseasons

^^ Also serves as kitten transportation? (sorry I had to throw that one in there. I have a weak spot for the little pointed-eared demons.)

    scarf3.jpg picture by dethofseasons

^^ Here's an easily acceived more edgy look. Assemble a shorts-with-tights look and pair it with a scarf. This is a rather loud ensemble what with the chosen patterns and the use of primary colors. However, this look is easily tailored it to your personality with your own color and pattern pairings.

    scarf7.jpg picture by dethofseasons

^^ This look is very simple, but not something you see every day. It's easy enough to choose a one-piece outfit or monochromatic top and bottom to throw a patterned scarf over. This look is easily accheived with a casual dress, a shirt and leggings that are the same color, or any other monochromatic coupling of your choice. Be creative.

    What do you guys think?

  • The High-Waisted Skirt

Low-rise skirts are getting harder and harder to find in the top fashion shoppes these days, and for good reason. The high-waisted skirt is a throw-back from the 1980s and 1990s which was really cute and forgiving to all body types. Whether you're thin or curvey, the high-waisted skirt (who's waistband is meant to rest slightly above the belly button) is a great way to take the focus away from the gut area and brings the eye toward the bustline and accentuates the naturally beautiful curve of the female hips. The high-waisted mini above is a great find on sale at Charlotte Russe right now for $11.29... actually, I got one similar in pink for about $5 at the location near me.

^^ The simplest way to begin putting together an outfit with a mini high-waisted skirt is to simply pair it with a tank or snug-fitting t-shirt. It's important to make sure that the shirt you choose doesn't get bunchy around where the waistband hugs it to your form. The skirt shown above elongates the torso by beginning just under the bustline and ending far above the knee, making it a mini skirt.

^ this skirt sits in the same place as the first (just below the bustline) but it gives a totally different effect because it is poofy rather than pencil-line. The trick of a puffy high-waisted skirt is to trick the eye into elongating the legs by hiding the midsection and giving the baby doll look. Again, this look is best acheived with a very form-fitting, simple shirt.

    hiskirttwentysix.jpg picture by dethofseasons

^ for a playful look, go for a longer skirt with a flowy fabric.

hiskirttwentythree.jpg picture by dethofseasonshiskirtfourteen.jpg picture by dethofseasons

^ The next step is adding tights. Depending on the accessories and shoes you chose, this can acceive a very edgy look or a fun childlike look.

hiskirtnineteen.jpg picture by dethofseasonshiskirteleven.jpg picture by dethofseasons

^ A more sophisticated look is accieved by adding a blouse or thick belt. This also helps you get the hour-glass effect.

hiskirttwentyfive.jpg picture by dethofseasonshiskirttwenty.jpg picture by dethofseasons

^^ The narrower version of the skirt and the version that sits lower on the abdomin (just above the belly button) makes for a good business casual look.

hiskirt1.png picture by dethofseasonshiskirtsixteen.jpg picture by dethofseasons

^^ Another way to dress for the occasion is to pay attention to the pattern, print, and texture of the fabric. Plaids, tweed, and slack material are also good for the professional or scholastic look.

hiskirt7.jpg picture by dethofseasonshiskirtseventeen.jpg picture by dethofseasons

^For a classy party look, spruce it up with louder colors and prints such as florals.

    hiskirttwentyone.jpg picture by dethofseasons

And for a really pretty, classy look ruffles and lace really give that old-fashioned beauty.

The best piece of advice for a high-waisted skirt is to keep the shirt snug, simple, and small. Wearing a top that is too puffy or loud gives the wrong impression that you got dressed in the dark. This kind of skirt already says a lot. Be minimalistic with the 'leotard' formed by the tights and shirt. Let the skirt speak for itself.

  • The Knitted Beret

Ever see girls running around with these hats sat on the back of their heads that kinda make them look like a squid? Strange but cute eh? Its called a beret, and its a great look for a girl who really knows how to dress and isn't afraid to try something a little off the beaten path.
^^This one is for sale at Forever 21 for 8$8.80

     knitted hat

^^Berets are typically worn with hair down and bangs out. It's really less of a hat and more of a hair accessory, often placed toward the very back of the head. bobby pins can be used to keep it in place. It adds style to any basic casual outfit.

  • The Man Shirt?

The very last thing most of us would think of as cute and feminine is an enormous mens' shirt on a girl. Oddly enough, paired with the right accessories, it can be really edgy, cute, and playful. The upside to this look is that you can shop in your dad, brother's or boyfriend's closet for free, or in a thrift store for cheap. You rocker girls out there can even wear that 2X Bullet for My Valentine shirt the concert vender just didn't have in your size.

    giant tshirt 2giant tshirt 3

A simple look is achieved by pairing the gigantic t-shirt with skinny jeans, as I've mentioned in my last entry on The Skinny Jean.

    giant tshirt

^^ Feeling a little more daring? Simply pair the huge t-shirt with a pair of opaque tights or leggings.

     giant tshirt 4giant tshirt 5

^^ to add a little more girliness, cut off the collar and wear a beater or cami underneath.

      giant tshirt6

^^ If your t-shirt is really that huge that ou feel comfortable wearing it as a dress with no leggings underneath, do it up!

giant sweater 3 giant sweater 2 giant sweater

^^ got a huge Bill Cosby sweater? Try wearing it as a dress! Never dreamed of having one? Now you know to check the thrift store ;)

flannel shirt 3flannel shirt 2flannel shirt

^^ A big flannal shirt doesn't have to scream 'hick' or 'truck driver' to you anymore. It can scream 'high fashion' when you pair it with tights and cute shoes.

  • The Skinny Jean

The skinny jean has finally fully booted the flair leg! Flairs were in for at least 10 years, but let's face it. If you're still wearing bell bottoms, its time to get with the program. Skinny jeans are awesome because they look good on most body types. Where skinny jeans make you look longer, flairs make you look boxy and bulky. Another pluss is that if it's too cold for leggings, a good pair of strech skinny jeans in an unusual color from your average blue denim will give the same look.

^^ I got a pair of gray skinny jeans like this at JC Penny for about $15 on clearence. They often have by one get one half off sales as well.

    skinnyjeans

^^ Skinny jeans that are made of stretch denim are better for the mock-leggings look.

    scarf 6scarf 2

^^ Skinny jeans with a scarf are a good choice on a day when you're rushed, lazy, or don't know what to wear. Just throw them together with a simple shirt and shoes and you're good to go and it looks like you spent more time planning your outfit.. or that you're just awesome and look better then everyone effortlessly even on your bummy days.

    knitted hat 3

^Skinny jeans are great for the layered look. They're tapered and don't get in the way too much or look overdone when you've got a lot more going on on the upper half.

giant tshirt 3 giant tshirt 2

^^ The giant t-shirt look is really convenient. Pissed that the venders at the Warped Tour only have mens' larges left in your favorite band's shirt? Wear it with skinny jeans or leggins and its instantly girly and edgy.

Fashion Tip: Now, we all know a good pair of jeans is hard to find for everyone, especially when you don't want to spend an arm and a leg you'd be wearing them on! A good tip is not to specifically set out in search of that magical pair of jeans. you might go home disappointed. A better idea is to brouse the pants section when you happen to be out looking for something else. Its always a better find when you happen upon a good pair of jeans on sale.
